Deeside Timberframe's Commitment to Net Zero

At Deeside Timberframe, sustainability is at the core of our operations. We are proud to be on a proactive journey towards achieving Net Zero emissions, guided by both our environmental commitments and the evolving expectations of our clients and staff. Our Net Zero strategy outlines clear, measurable steps to reduce our carbon footprint while delivering high-quality, sustainable timber frame solutions.

Achieving Our Net Zero Goals

Our Net Zero Strategy

We are committed to achieving:

  • 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
  • Net Zero by 2045, aligning with Scottish Government targets.

To achieve our Net Zero goals, we have implemented a structured plan that focuses on high-impact areas within our operations. Our strategy is based on targeted improvements in energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, and operational processes. We continuously monitor our progress through quarterly reviews and structured reporting to ensure we remain on track to meet our commitments.

Key Focus Areas

Energy Efficiency Investments

We have prioritised strategic investments in energy efficiency to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and lower emissions. This includes:

  • Solar panel installation at our Throsk manufacturing facility – A 108kW system providing 90,000 kWh annually, covering 30% of the site’s energy needs.
  • Complete LED lighting upgrades across both manufacturing facilities, significantly reducing electricity consumption.
Key Focus Areas

Sustainable Transportation

Reducing emissions from company and supply chain transport is a critical part of our Net Zero strategy. Key initiatives include:

  • Transitioning company vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) as leases expire, with supporting infrastructure under review.
  • Enhancing haulage efficiency, including optimised factory selection and delivery scheduling to minimise emissions.
  • Reducing forklift fuel usage, with the introduction of ply trolleys across both sites, cutting forklift dependency and fuel consumption.
Key Focus Areas

Operational Optimisation

We continuously assess and refine our manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and sustainability. Recent actions include:

  • Reconfiguring our Throsk factory layout to streamline operations and reduce forklift movements.
  • Engaging a business-wide working group to drive sustainability initiatives, such as reducing waste and improving energy use.
